MIKE
“We’re Rhyme Cafe: two singers and seven musicians. We started in Brooklyn after 2020. We all came from different kinds of music, but we loved playing together.”
ROONEY
“Our main influences are Jurassic 5, The Jackson 5, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Radiohead and The Prodigy. We each bring something different. That mix is what makes us sound like us.”
MIKE
“We spent years playing small gigs around New York, mostly reggae and bossa nova. One night, after a show near Central Park, a guy came up to us and said: ‘Let me produce your next record. Let’s try something new.’”
ROONEY
“He wanted to make a hip-hop album with a deep groove. We’d never done that before. We had to find a new way to sing and play together. It was a challenge, and we’re glad we took it.”
MIKE & ROONEY
“That became Chameleon Party. With Invisible Moves, we explored disco, funk and soul. Two different records from the same nine guys.”
